Summer School 2024 Week Six – Mastering Consent Forms and Estimates

Welcome to the final instalment of our 2024 Summer School series. This week we are delving into an important aspect of dental practice management and patient care - consent forms and estimates!  

Did you know that you can add both estimates and consent forms to your Dentally settings, allowing you to generate them directly from the chart screen? You can then print them or send them digitally through Dentally Portal for patients to sign - and their responses will be saved straight to the cloud! 🚀 

Creating Consent Forms and Estimates 

In Dentally, both consent forms and estimates can be created from the same location in your settings. Once set up, these forms can be easily generated directly from the patient’s chart screen. Here’s how you can get started: 

• Navigate to 'Settings' > 'Templates' > 'Estimates'
• Click 'New Template' in the top right 

From here you can name your template and fill out the body of your consent or estimate form. Templates can be edited later if needed. Once you are happy with your template simply click 'Save'. Visit our help centre for a detailed breakdown of the template creation process. 

Using Consent Forms and Estimates 

• Navigate to the patient’s chart screen and make sure you have the correct treatment plan selected.  
• Click the ‘Create a new estimate' button, located at the bottom of the patient's treatment plan. 
• Choose your template from the list and update the content of the template as needed, then click 'Create'. 
• This will open your form as a PDF in your preferred PDF programme. 
• From here, you can:
  • Print the estimate from the print button on your preferred PDF programme
  • Direct the patient to sign their form electronically by logging into their Portal account either on their phone or via the in-practice app Concierge. 

Benefits of Digital Forms 

• Efficiency: Digital forms streamline the documentation process, reducing the need for manual paperwork and saving valuable time.  
• Cloud Storage: With digital forms being saved straight to the cloud, you will be able to easily access all forms straight from the ‘Correspondence’ tab in the patient record, so no need to spend hours scanning forms ever again!  
• Convenience: Forms can be sent to the patient via Portal or the Concierge tablet app for electronic signing, making it easy for patients. 
• Accuracy: Digital forms help ensure that all necessary information is included and clearly presented, reducing the risk of errors. 
• Environmentally Friendly: By using digital forms, you contribute to reducing paper waste and promoting a more sustainable practice.
