What Are Clinical AI Notes? 

Clinical AI notes is a smart, secure tool built directly into Dentally that turns your note input — typed or dictated — into a clear, structured summary. It works alongside your existing note templates, giving you control over how you take notes, while removing the repetitive admin.  

It’s as easy as, Talk. Summarise. Done. 

How Does it Work? 

Using clinical AI notes is quick and intuitive — designed to fit seamlessly into your existing workflow. Start by clicking ‘AI Notes’ from the treatment item or go directly to the clinical side bar on your chart in Dentally.  
 
From there, you can either type your observations or dictate them using the microphone button. We recommend selecting one of your existing templates to guide not only yourself when dictating notes but to also guide the AI when summarising your dictation into a structured summary. 

Once you’ve captured the details, simply click ‘Generate Summary’ and the AI will process your input and return a clean, structured clinical note — ready for review. From here, you can Edit the summary as needed, make changes to your input and regenerate a new version or copy the output straight onto your patient's chart and save your notes! 

Before you summarise your notes, you can create multiple entries for a single patient — ideal for longer or staged treatments — and you can revisit previous drafts at any time from the archive.

Why it Matters: More Time for Patients, Less Time on Admin

Getting Started: What’s Included in Your Plan 

Clinical AI notes is rolling out now for all Dentally users. Here’s how access works: 

• Standard plan users: You’ll receive a one-off limited number of AI credits to try out the feature and experience the benefits firsthand. 
• Advanced or Advanced Plus plan users: Your existing plan will now include rolling monthly AI credits as part of your subscription. 

If you exceed your monthly AI credits, a notice will appear in the clinical AI notes sidebar. Additional notes will be charged at a small per-note rate and added to your next invoice. 

This ensures there is no disruption to your workflow when you run out of credits — you can continue using clinical AI notes as needed — but we recommend keeping an eye on usage if you're on a limited-credit plan.
